There’re a lot of things that you can do to make your family and loved ones happy this yuletide season. And one of which is giving them a present. But the thing is, what kind of present it is? well, might most of you are having a hard time in thinking alone on what kind of gift you should give in your family members. But as long as you follow my Christmas Gift Guide below you might probably thought of something that your family would happy to received in this Christmas eve.

Depending on your approach, shopping for Christmas can be super exciting or a bit stressful! Either way, we all have similar objectives in mind — to buy a gift that someone will love. However, it can get boring buying the same sorts of gifts year after year — there’s only so many aftershave sets that one man can look happy to receive! Instead, we have created a gift guide of quirky presents for everyone on your Christmas list.

For children

Children can be difficult to please and it’s hard to keep up with the latest technology that all their friends may have. Here are some gift ideas that are different to what they might normally receive:

£-££

Younger children can get over excited when it comes to Christmas, eagerly awaiting the day that they can open their gifts. One good present idea for children is a DIY stocking making kit. It can be made into a fun family activity on Christmas Eve or in the school holidays — it’s something different and it allows them to have their very own, personalised stocking!

For older children, a smartphone projector could be a fun gift. It can be used for watching films and TV shows — they simply slip their smartphone into the cardboard box and the glass lens projects the screen onto a blank wall.

££-£££

Young people love taking selfies! Whether it’s to post on social media or capture a fun memory with their friends, they’re always snap happy. But, could a ‘dronie’ be the next selfie? The latest in drone technology means it’s able to take photographs and videos from a height. Differing in camera quality and flight time, there’s a full range that you can browse here.

£££-££££

For children who enjoy drawing, you could buy them the Osmo creative set. Different to the traditional colouring book and pen — this set brings their creativity to life with the help of a tablet or smartphone.

Fitness bands have been must-haves for adults for a few years now, but did you know that children can get involved too? Fitness bands designed for children are durable and let them set daily activity goals whilst tracking steps, sleep and recommended exercise.

But if you don’t have enough budget to spend for these, you can simply trick them by giving them something colorful, why I know? well, because that works with my Godchildren last holidays and it may gonna work on yours too.

Your other half

It’s always nice to get your other half a gift that they weren’t expecting. These quirky gifts should surprise them and put a smile on their face.

£-££

Does your other half like cooking? And beer? How about buying them a cookbook with recipes on how to do both! Browse the collection online and choose one that you think would be suitable for your partner.

Vintage is always in, and one thing that has come back into fashion is the instant camera. The retro-style polaroid camera is a good gift for anyone who loves taking photos and saving them to look back on later.

££-£££

For a more upmarket gift how about something that everyone can enjoy — a pizza oven! The retro oven can create other things too such as bacon, eggs and pancakes and features a non-stick coating with various temperature settings.

One idea for men is a twist on a popular fashion trend. Retailers of high-quality leather boots, Frank Wright, offer a blue suede derby shoe that is a contemporary addition to any man’s wardrobe — different to any other shoes that he owns!

£££-££££

For a pricy gift, why not take your loved one on at trip like no other? Reykjavik in Iceland is one place that’s different to the traditional city break — spend the night under the stars and take the chance of spotting the Northern Lights if you stay in the winter. Or how about taking them to the set of one of their favourite films or movies? Dubrovnik in Croatia is a beautiful setting and you can spot many of the scenes from the much-loved show, Game of Thrones.

Elders, aunts uncles and family friends!

For everyone else, here are gifts that will come in handy or that they may appreciate:

£

For the avid traveller, a scratch map could be the perfect gift. They can frame it and place it somewhere where they can appreciate it — remembering the places that they’ve visited and the things that they’ve seen! As they visit new places, they can scratch these off too, highlighting their recent adventures.

For a keen gardener, how about an indoor allotment? Your gardening friend may be upset that they can’t spend as much time in the garden as they usually do in the colder months and this could be a nifty alternative. They can plant herbs for cooking or smaller plants and appreciate it in the comfort of their home!

££

Know someone who is always losing their keys? The Tile Mate could be the perfect gift for them. The small Bluetooth tracker can be attached to anything, from phones to keys and bags — they’ll never lose their sought after items again.

£££

As we said earlier, vintage items always come back around. How about buying a vinyl turntable for a family or friend? Many people have saved their old vinyls for memories and would love to be able to play them again! You can also buy new music in vinyl form for them to enjoy too.

grad

Once a person graduates from college, they are now ready to start their career and take charge of their life. When a recent graduate is about to enter this new phase, they will need some help and assistance from the people who surround and support them as they get on their feet.

Financial Help

Money is the most obvious thing that a recent college grad may need. Why? They are just starting off in life. This means that they will need to purchase a lot of items for their new adult life that they had previously not needed as a student. Deposits on new apartments or perhaps even on the purchase of a new home, buying a car or public transport pass to get back and forth to work, plus new professional clothes and furniture and all the items that you need to be an “adult” are now on their agenda to purchase.

Transportation Passes & Gas Money Cards

Until they are established with a few paychecks, getting back and forth to work will be an expense that the graduate must cover. Buying them a prepaid transportation card for the subway or bus is going to be appreciated. If they are driving in their new (or used) car, having to keep the tank full is a new responsibility that they will be taking on. Giving the prepaid gas card is one way of ensuring that any financial help you want to provide goes to the right thing to help them to be successful.

Gift Cards

Gift cards that are for a particular store or just a generic Visa or MasterCard would be welcome by a graduate whatever their situation may be. If they are furnishing a new home, need fuel for their commute, or simply need to get a cup of coffee on the way to work, this type of gift card is going to be a perfect fit to meet those random needs. It also is going to serve them well should any type of emergency situation arise. While new college grads should be careful about controlling their debt, getting a credit or debit card should not be a

Garment Steamer

Depending on what type of job they have, a garment steamer is going to save the new graduate a great deal of money on dry cleaning bills. They also can easily prep for the week ahead by using a garment rack with their steamer to lay out their clothes for each day and steam them all at once. Less cumbersome than ironing, the best garment steamer is going to be an appreciated gift by the young professional for both financial savings and less time spent getting ready each day.

Household Items

While on the more expensive end of gift giving, beds, couches, chairs, tables and a computer desk all make great items for a recent grad’s home. They might be something you would want to go in on with a group of people to purchase. If they are not inclined to decorate with items other than posters from their favorite college band, you could consider providing some “grown up” options for décor like candleholders and artwork. Other items such as dishes and a microwave will be extremely useful as well as appreciated. Unless a new graduate is getting married and would have a reason for a registry, they will likely need everything that one requires to setup a new home. From dishes to utensils to a table to eat on, nothing would be unappreciated. Perhaps if the cost of new items is not something that is in your budget, you could help them to refinish or refurbish pieces that they find second hand. If you are handy yourself, consider finding and renovating the item all on your own as a surprise

Laptop

A laptop is a good suggestion for helping to keep up with bills and to stay in touch with family, especially if they have had to move away for their first job. If they are working actively to find a new job, they will appreciate the mobility that a laptop can provide. Allowing them to work from a coffeeshop and not their bedroom at mom and dad’s house will be much appreciated.

There are some people who would be happy spending their entire lives living in the same place. They would be happy growing up in a specific town, and then working, living, getting married, and settling down in that very same place without venturing any further out into the world. Now, there’s certainly nothing wrong with that. The reality of life is that there’s no reason why you should have to live yours in any way other than how you really want to. However, for a lot of other people, that sounds like something closer to a waking nightmare. The idea of living in the same place for their entire lives can make them feel trapped and miserable. However, even those people can often be somewhat limited in their idea of what it is that they really want out of their life. After all, even if you move out of your hometown, how much of a change are you really making? You’re still going to be around the same kinds of people, cultures, and environments, even if the specifics are a little bit different. Of course, there is one way in which you can change all of that: living abroad. Expanding the place that you call home into international waters might seem like an incredibly scary prospect, but the truth is that it comes with a lot of positives as well. It certainly not an easy thing to do but here are a few reasons why just about everyone should consider living abroad at least once in their lives.

Career opportunities

https://www.pexels.com/photo/party-glass-architecture-windows-34092/

One of the most frustrating things about living in one place for your entire life is that it can often feel as though you don’t have anywhere near the number of opportunities in your career as you might like. Geographical limitations have often been a major roadblock when it comes to a lot of people’s careers. However, thanks to the internet, you can now expand your search for a job to a truly international level. Rather than just sticking to the same old places, you can search anywhere in the world for the job that you really want. That way you’re going to be in a much better position to not only find the job that you really want but also to find things that you might never have even considered before. And don’t worry if you’re not naturally bilingual, their fact is that we live in an increasingly connected world and there are constantly opportunities springing up for people to be able to work in other countries without having to speak the language. There are almost always chances for things like English teachers and cultural liaisons so, even if you can’t speak the language, there are career opportunities out there for you. Of course, if you’re living somewhere, there’s a pretty good chance that you’ll pick up the language before long anyway!

Cheap homes

One of the biggest issues facing a lot of people in the modern age is the fact that housing prices are simply too high for many to be able to realistically afford. When you combine that with the rising cost of living and stagnation of many people’s wages, then the idea of being able to buy a home at all can start to seem like some kind of far-fetched fantasy that’s never going to come true. However, if you look across the pond, then you’ll find that both rental and buying prices are often much more manageable due to things like currency exchange and the economic situation in a particular country. Have a look at a site like http://rumahdijual.com/ to see the kinds of homes that you can find internationally and how much you could end up spending on them. Sure, buying or renting a home is still going to be a pretty significant commitment, but looking internationally can also make it much easier for you to find your perfect home rather than trying to decide between a select group of homes that you don’t like that much in your home country.

Expanding your mind

They say that travel broadens the mind. Well, if that’s true then living in a country is going to be enough to practically make it explode! The reality of life is that we often spend a great deal of it in our own private bubbles that leave us blissfully unaware of the sheer breadth of culture and excitement that goes on around us all the time. By moving to a totally new place then you’re going to have no choice but to be completely engrossed in the culture and goings on of that environment. This can lead a lot of people to completely change their perspectives on the world because it presents an image of it that they honestly might never have experienced before. Getting to see how different cultures do things and understanding the history and culture of a place that is totally different from where you grew up can have a pretty fundamental impact on the way that you see the world.

Meeting new people

One thing that you can guarantee, no matter where you are in the world, is that having the right people in your life really can make all the difference. The right people can make hard times much easier, or they can make a boring job a lot more fun. By moving to somewhere totally new then you’re going to be able to meet brand new people who can offer you a totally new perspective on life. One thing that people often forget is how much you really can learn from those around you if you give them a chance. Sure, you can learn things from just about anyone, but by meeting people who have a completely and utterly different background for your own, you’re going to be able to gain a new understanding of the people around you that might never have had before. Sure, you’re not going to make friends with absolutely everyone, but those you do could very easily end up being someone of the best and most important people in your entire life.

Figuring out who you really are

https://www.pexels.com/photo/alone-buildings-city-cityscape-220444/

When people say that they “found themselves” while traveling to distant lands, it’s easy to roll your eyes at them. After all, the kinds of people who say that are often pretty irritating, to begin with, and it can often feel like the only way in which they “found themselves” is how they learned that spending loads of money on travel could make life a lot more fun than slaving away at work all day. That being said, they actually might have a bit of a point. The reality of life is that none of us are totally self-made. We’re all impacted by the context in which we live every day. This means that everything from the way you look to how you were raised to the expectations that society, your parents, and everyone else has for you is likely to have an impact on the way that you live your life. One of the very best things that you can do is to reject those things by starting totally fresh. If you’re living somewhere where nobody knows you, and you have left all of your baggage behind, then there’s nothing standing in the way of you being who it is that you really want to be deep down. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you can just start acting however you want. It just means that you finally have a chance to figure out who you are and what you really want completely separate from the kinds of expectations that the world might have had for you up until this point. It’s incredibly freeing to be able to find yourself in a position where you have complete and total control over not only how people see you, but in how you see yourself as well. You might not “find yourself” but you might get a better idea of who you really are.

Of course, there’s always a chance that you’ll find that, after a few years, you’ve got a hankering to go back home where things are simple and familiar. And there’s nothing wrong with that! Even if a choice that you make in your life doesn’t end up being a permanent one, that doesn’t mean that it was a bad choice. There’s something genuinely wonderful about being able to experience something totally different in your life and, at the very least, it can give you a fresh appreciation of the kinds of places that you might once have taken for granted. Then again, you might also find that you fall head over heels in love with the new culture in which you find yourself and that you decide that this is the place that you want to call home for the rest of our life. The truth is that the only way you’re ever going to know is if you’re willing to get out there and actually try!
